Gil Basketball Academy partners with fundraising platform Vertical Raise during 21-day campaign
The Salinas-based nonprofit Gil Basketball Academy has partnered with Vertical Raise, a company that has created a platform to raise funds through a cohesive digital campaign.
Through the platform, GBA parents and supporters can invite others to make donations by sending out invitations via email, text and social media.
On May 1, GBA kicked off a three-week Vertical Raise campaign to raise funds to offset costs in making the academy successful. GBA co-founder and Alisal High School coach/athletic director Jose Gil has used the fundraising platform for his teams at AHS. He hopes to defray costs of facility fees, referee salaries, travel, new uniforms and any other pertinent expenses that are involved in running GBA.
GBA parents began the campaign by logging onto the Vertical Raise platform, which allows them to easily reach out to their family, friends and other contacts in order to make a donation. The platform has additional tools that help the academy raise as much funding as possible. There are ways for people to make donor matches and the platform offers business sponsorships for people who may want to make a sponsorship donation and get their company logo on the GBA page.
Participants will no longer have to sell any products, manage cash, or keep and/or distribute inventory. Fundraising is vital for the success of the GBA program, and Vertical Raise streamlines the process and creates an ease of use.
