Our Philosophy for GBA
We have had the privilege to be surrounded by great student athletes and coaches throughout our tenure at Alisal High School and the Salinas community as basketball coaches. Now, it is time to share our experiences and knowledge with the entire community through our basketball academy.
Both educators and proud residents of OUR community. Coach Gil has been privileged to coach at some of the most high profile basketball camps in the country; Michael Jordan’s Flight School, Kobe Bryant’s Basketball Academy, and Lebron James’ Kings Academy, coach Gil has developed into a more complete basketball coach. He is the only Commissioner at both MJFS and KBA, a proud accomplishment. Coach Gil has earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Cal Poly S.L.O. and his Masters and Administrative Credential from SJSU. Eva with her High School varsity coaching experience at Alisal, also ignites creativity and experience into our philosophy in GBA. She was a standout 3 sport athlete while in High School with high honors. She was the schools Valedictorian while earning a full ride academic scholarship to Stanford University. She also has her Masters and Administrative Credential in Education.
The philosophy that we share of GBA, will enable all of our youth members to grow as student athletes. We will teach the fundamentals at every practice with specialized instruction that will empower kids to want to master them. When teaching the fundamentals, our coaches will stress perfection. These will be repeated so often they become instinctive in game situations. Each member will be taught according to their age level. Positive language and attitude will be modeled by each and every coach at every practice. All of our coaches are volunteers and have been live scanned/fingerprinted to maintain the highest quality of instruction for each GBA member.
We will make practices fun. Through creativity and innovative basketball drills, plays, games, and music. GBA members will always be learning something new and exposed to the entire world of basketball on and off the court.
